Just built my first HTPC. I am ready to play my first Blu-ray, but I haven't loaded any playback software. Actually, I thought WMC had it , my error.

Any words of wisdom from the more experienced out there?

Any good free downloads, or is it better to buy something?

What are some good options?

Thanks all.

AnyDVDHD to save the BD as an iso file with protection removed. VCD (virtual Clone Drive) to mount the ISO file and PowerDVD to playback.

Just as the title say, I suppose. Ive been thinking of putting a blu-ray drive on my desktop. How does the price for something like that look for a "nice" drive?

Ooooorrrrrrrr, would it just be a better idea to buy a PS3 or dedicated blu-ray player?

This is, of course, because of the new Star Wars set.

I just bought a new Blue ray burner for my computer. I think it rang in at around a bit above $80.

It came with Cyberlink PowerDVD, but apparently that's somewhat hit or miss if you get that. I have to say I ran it side by side against my dedicated Samsung BR player and I was hard pressed to tell any difference.

I buy most of my stuff from Newegg, so if your in the States I think you'll find the best price there.

We have rules about posting links to newegg...because newegg doesn't pay us and people seem to be under the notion that it is ok to spam links to newegg.

Meanwhile, here is some great pricing for bluray drives:
