Hopefully next year we will have a new Operating System from Google.
Chrome OS is a lightweight, browser-based operating system basically for netbooks. I read somewhere that it can only be installed in solid state disks and not hard disks.
google the new google OS for comments

Yup, this OS looks like it will be good for netbooks. The main thing I don't like, It is based mainly on "cloud" apps which require you to be connected to the internet to use. If you aren't connected or have unreliable connectivity, this OS may not be the best choice. I don't think you have to install it on an SSD, but most netbooks come with an SSD which has limited capacity. That is probably what they were saying. Chrome OS doesn't need 15 GB of install space like Windows.

But I do think this will carve out a nice new niche in the budget PC market. I don't know about it being a great choice for HTPCs...cloud-based PVR? Maybe if streaming video moves more mainstream. Hulu was a good start but the lack of HD content sucks.

I think ChromeOs will be a great product for netbooks.
And for RID (Rich Internet Devices).

As it can be light, and you can access you apps from anyware.
